I saw many Turkish people are confusing true and correct.
Both can be translated as DOĞRU to Turkish.
But True also have the meaning of GERÇEK.
I would be happy to see some examples on both words in English to help us distinguish them.
Thanks,

I think that DOĞRU would be translated as 'correct' as the opposite of 'wrong' (YANLIŞ ) eg. 'Your answers are correct/wrong'
GERÇEK is 'real, really' as in 'a real story, it really happened'.
And then there is HAKLI as well, meaning 'right' as in 'you are right, it's true (I agree with what you said)'.
HAKLI DEĞİLSIN - 'you're wrong, you misunderstood, what you are saying is not true'

--Is it right ?
Yes, it is right.
Yes, he is right.
--Is it true ?
Yes, it is true. To approve that the said/heard thing is real.
Yes, he is true. Not for confirmation. But to show that he is alive/exists and not a ghost.
--Is it correct ?
Yes, it is correct.
Yes, he is correct.
There is also True - False questions as well as Correct/right - Wrong questions.
But true and correct is not interchangeable.

True,is like real in English ,and like hakiki , gerçek
But doğru,it is same meaning and use as right in English.
Let me explain those examples,
True love, means Hakiki, coming from the heart, not fooling
Correct love ,means, it is the right love for that person
Wrong love, means it is the wrong love, means this person fall in love with the wrong one.
Right person, means, you picked the right person for this stiuation.
True person, means, this person is real,is honest,..ect,but normally we don't use true in this example.

Yes, it is true. To approve that the said/heard thing is not false.
Yes, he is real. Not for confirmation. But to show that he is alive/exists and not a ghost. (True would not be appropriate in this context). |
For the first sentence, true means not false. It is the same as saying 'Yes, it is correct'.
For the second, real is a more appropriate word than true, since you are refering to someone/thing that exists... someone/thing that is not imaginary.
When a person is called true, it usually means genuine/authentic: 'He is the true heir to the throne'
or loyal/faithful: 'She is a true friend'; 'Will you remain true to your promise?'
