WROTE THE POEMS I POSTED IN FIRST Forum
In The Event of My Demise by Tupac Shakur

In the event of my Demise
when my heart can beat no more
I Hope I Die For A Principle
or A Belief that I had Lived 4
I will die Before My Time
Because I feel the shadow's Depth
so much I wanted 2 accomplish
before I reached my Death
I have come 2 grips with the possibility
and wiped the last tear from My eyes
I Loved All who were Positive
In the event of my Demise

A Poem About Tupac

by J. Hilton

Only God Can Judge 2pac...
Black man, Black boy, Prince, Thug,
Revolutionary, Symbol. They only see your
tattoos, jewelry, and body language. They only
hear your vulgar words, defiant messages, and
your unavoidable controversy. They see your life
as a threat, they comment "chickens came home
to roost." They blame you for violence in
America, they pour disgust on you and point the
finger at you for problems in our families.

Black man, Black boy, Prince, Thug,
Revolutionary, Symbol. We see you as the dark
truth they are scared to accept. We see you as the
voice we sometimes could not find. We see you
as a young Malcolm X. Alcohol, drugs, women
and prison consumed you, as it did Brother
Malcolm. Yet those that knew you, knew you
were on the way out, you had seen the light and
moved toward it. We felt your pain, so similar to
ours. We felt your frustration, so similar to ours.
We felt your anger, so similar to ours. You are an
unavoidable realness. To Generation X, as they
describe it, you are a 1996 Elvis, John Lennon,
Jimi Hendricks, Sammy Davis, Ella Fitzgerald.
Those that don't know, may never know. Those
that do know, truly know that... Only God Can
Judge You!

To my Brotha, rest in peace, I'll never forget what you said.

------------------------------------------------------------At the Age of 25

Written By: Bobby E. Negret, © 1997

I still remember that day... Fall was well on its way.
It began in an ordinary way no different than today.
I popped in a CD and let it play.
I listened to what you had to say.
I slumped back in my couch, resting in a slouch.
I absorbed as much as I could and fell into your groove.

Time progressed and before long nightfall was coming along.
I could barely see the light
But it was holding on with all of it's might.
My session was complete, a sample of your inspiration was a treat.

As my stereo fell silent and my crystal ball came to life.
That is how it all began, too much for me to understand.

An idol to me how could this be?

At the age of 25, caught in the middle of genocide.
At the age of 25, I assumed it was a homicide.
At the age of 25, I too can see through your eyes.
At the age of 25, yes, you should still be alive.

The streets we shared gave me sight.
You were the one who powered the light.
A stranger to me... a strange to you...
All my dreams faded away on this day.

When you were robbed in a violent way.
Only one had the authority to say it was your day.
God didn't want you that way!
Like a thief in the night you were taken away.
Whose choice was it to say?

I now see the irony of Poetic Justice.
On that night you really touched us.
From then on, in that too, I believed.
Your visions and your talents were easy to see.
You were a hero to many, even me.

So... when I heard the news.
It gave me the blues.
I didn't want it to be true.
Because I knew there was nothing I could do.

So... I bowed my head to pray for you.
I asked the LORD to guide and protect you
through your journey.
And to comfort your family with an embrace.
And to keep them all safe and warm well after the storm.

Your legacy will live on in our hearts, where youhave become a vital part.

In loving memory of RYAN HAFFEY&
Tupac Amaru Shakur WHO wrote the poem.
May you both forever rest in peace
but never in our hearts
