When using a noun as an adjective, when is -ik used and when is it ommitted???
For example:
"O çizgik bir demlik"
or
"O çizgi bir demlik"
I can't work out when to add the -ik suffix :-S

Sorry - I was wanting "çizgi" as the noun for "stripe"
çizgi - stripe
demlik - teapot
çizgik demlik = stripy teapot?
But does it require the -ik suffix?

Now I'm totally confused.......
I've never even heard of -li and it is not listed on http://www.dnathan.com/language/turkish/tsd/
What I am really looking for is a rule as to when to apply which suffix for changing nouns into adjectives - that was just one example.

Ah thank you very much indeed!
Yes - that explains it better
-li is used for a property of a noun (such as 'stripy') whereas -ik is used for an irreversible process that has happened to a noun (such as 'burnt') - is that a fair description???

But.. what about güzellik?
This is with -ik.. but it's not as in Burnt that it 'happened' to the noun? Or was it "beautified"
Oh wait, güzel is not a noun But i would still like if some of the native speakers could explain it a bit more, just by giving a few turkish sentences with their english translations... Erdinc? Meltem? Cyrano? Anyone? Help? (a)

First of all i have to say that i’m not a proffessional.
somethings about –ik suffix;
- it makes an adj. with base form of a verb…………(verb + -ik, -ık, -ük, -uk,…. = adj.)
- it makes a noun with base form of a verb…………(verb+ -ik,………………………= noun)
- sometimes it is not a suffix
verb + -ik > adj.
