i agree with deli.

you have to take the plunge, pick one of the books and just start. then from there build it up. plus you have to have determination and motivation.

good luck!

I need a structure to learning a language, so I have decided to use an distant learning course. I also use other sources to suppliment that course, such as books, this site, dictionary and I have found a really good one, English/Turkish. It is a Milet large portable dictionary. ISBN: 1-84059-495-0

It is not easy, but perseverance and determination is essential!! Good luck, there are plenty of helpers on this site when you get stuck.

Hi alison,
We should start to learn any languages by hearing and reading basic sentences. It's the simple rule of learning languages.
So,
HEAR- READ and SPEAK AND WRITE that's all.

If you need a help.We are here.

My problem is that when trying to speak Turkish with Turks who also speak English, I suffer from a sudden "speaker's block". Speaking with someone who only speaks Turkish is ok, but otherwise I get all shy and I hate it!
