PAST TENSE
Vardı= There was/There were
(Benim) Elimde çok küçük bir elma vardı.= There was a very small apple in my hand.
Yoktu= There was not /There were not
(Benim) Elimde çok küçük bir elma yoktu.= There was not a very small apple in my hand.

one of dı,di,dü,du tı,ti,tü,tu is added to noun or verb to make past tense.

İf the last vowel of word letter is
E or İ =‘’ İ â€™â€™ di/ti
A or I= ‘’ I ’’ dı/tı
Ö or Ü= ‘’Ü’’ dü/tü
O or U= ‘’U’’ du/tu

if the last consonant letter is sharp (one of those; p,ç,t,k,ş,s,f,h) then it must be tı,ti,tü,tu
for others it must be dı,di,dü,du

(Ben) Gençtim=İ was young Genç=young (Ben) Öğretmendim=İ was teacher öğretmen=teacher
(Sen) Gençtin=You were young (Sen) Öğretmendin=You were teacher
(O) Gençti=He was young. (O) Öğretmendi=He was teacher

To make negative noun sentences in past tense.

değil word is added to sentence to make negative noun sentence. di is added to değil. At last subject's suffix (such as m,n,ler,k,niz) is added to değildi

(Ben) Genç değildim = İ were not young (Biz) Genç değildik= We were not young
(Sen) Genç değildin= You were not young (Siz) Genç değildiniz =You were not young
(O) Genç değildi = He was not young (Onlar) Genç değildiler =They were not young
