MUST (-meli / -malı suffix)
Pozitive Sentence
meli,malı is added to verb.So for noun sentences we add (to be) ''olmak '' to sentence.and -malı suffix is added to olmak.
(Sen) kibar olmalısın = you must be kind kibar=kibar
if the last vowel is front vowel (e,i,ö,ü) suffix must be meli
if the last vowel is back vowel (a,ı,o,u) suffix must be malı
(Ben) Yapmalıyım = İ must do (Biz) Yapmalıyız =We must do
(Sen) Yapmalısın =You must do (Siz) Yapmalısınız = You must do
(O) Yapmalı =He must do (Onlar) Yapmalılar = They must do
(Sen) Gülümsemelisin=You must smile Gülümse (mek) = (to) smile
Negative Sentence
ma,me is added first to verb. then malı,meli is added.
if the last vowel is front vowel (e,i,ö,ü) suffix must be me, then meli is added
if the last vowel is back vowel (a,ı,o,u) suffix must be ma then malı is added
(Ben) Yapmamalıyım = İ must not do (Biz) Yapmamalıyız = We must not do
(Sen) Yapmamalısın = You must not do (Siz) Yapmamalısınız=You must not do
(O) Yapmamalı = He must not do (Onlar) Yapmamalılar=They must not do
(Sen) Gülmemelisin=You must not laugh Gül (mek)= laugh
Pozitve Question
mı or mi is added.
if the last vowel is front vowel (e,i,ö,ü) mi is added to pozitive sentence
if the last vowel is back vowel (a,ı,o,u) mı is added to pozitive sentence
(Ben) Yapmalı mıyım ?= must i do ? (Biz) Yapmalı mıyız ?= must we do?
(Sen) Yapmalı mısın ?=must you do ? (Siz) Yapmalı mısınız ?= must you do?
(O) Yapmalı mı? =must she do ? (Onlar) Yapmalılar mı ?= must they do?
(Sen) Gülümsemeli misin ? Must you smile ?
to make pozitive questions with Nere,Ne,Hangi(where,what,which etc) we add them (Nere,Ne,Hangi) to pozitive sentence.
(Sen) Ne yapmalısın ? = What must you do ?
Negative Question
if the last vowel is front vowel (e,i,ö,ü) mi is added to negative sentence
if the last vowel is back vowel (a,ı,o,u) mı is added to negative sentence
(Ben) Yapmamalı mıyım ?= must not i do ? (Biz) Yapmamalı mıyız ? = must not we do ?
(Sen) Yapmamalı mısın ?= must not you do ? (Siz) Yapmamalı mısınız ? = must not you do ?
(O) Yapmamalı mı ?= must not he do ? (Onlar) Yapmamalılar mı ?= must not they do ?
(Sen) Gülmemeli misin ? = must not you laugh ?
