literally my dictionary says fiancee for yavuklu, but I'm not sure which he means.

So alpha, you mean that in english sweetheart is an approved and known relationship by elders?
I thought sweetheart was just a way of saying darling.

A sweetheart is someone your heart is sweet on...Your elders may or may not approve....YAVUKLU is of approved kind.
IF your boyfriend knows what he is talking about, of course...
