I have visited Türkiye once - and I found no discrimination against women.......but I was in a very tourist orientated area of the country!

But I did get some strange looks from men at the airport as I was wearing a top that showed my tummy, tatoo and belly peircing - the sort of strange looks that I would not generally get in England.......

Assuming I manage to learn Türkçe well enough - I intend to explore the country a bit more next time and get away from the tourist areas, at least for a short time. Perhaps then I will get a better idea of 'real' opinions as opposed to those that are driven by a need to make money from visitors.......

Well Bod, I hope that some strange looks will be the only things you ll get there. Cause as I ve been informed, non touristic places are not so much open minded and you might have great troubles there.
Hey Ramayan, could you enlighten us?

Oh???
Do bear in mind that I am quite good at fitting into situations with a large variety of different people in very different social and professional circles - so I suspect there would be little problem if (and it is a very big if) I ever get to grips to communication in Türkçe!!!

Yes please Ramayan - what kind of reaction might a guy in a cropped tee-shirt expect to get in a city such as Muğla???

I m sure about that. I see it here every day.
And i also believe that being able to communicate with them in their language will make things easier. But still, a man in a cropped t-shirt with body piercing and tatoo on his belly, is not something they can cope with easily, when in those areas, they have troubles accepting even a woman in jeans or mini skirt.
