The site "how to learn a language" is really useful and give you a bit of confidence to! It is not about Turkish but just how to go about learning. I have decided on a structure, similar to going to night school and that is working better for me.

There are forums for dozens of languages here, including Turkish. The regulars in the Turkish forum include both students and natives.

The 1960s course used to train diplomats is in the public domain. Two books -- and TONS of audio -- are available for free download.

I took a look at those and they're unbelievable really.. So much material and it's all for free.
The drilling stuff might be boring at first sight, but I think it's a good way to get used to the feel and sound of the language, and the structure of sentences.

Yes! I learned Turkish using this method with a language helper, here in Turkey, using the longer series from the FSI called DLI (defense language institute used to teach American GIs Turkish). It had 16 books.
