Me neither, and I use Paypal no problem.. You might want to check it again Loveprague, it probably used to be like that in the beginning, but it's not anymore. Don't know what is required for people living in Turkey though.
Btw, a friend of mine was using Gittigidiyor.com a year ago already..

I checked Paypal offerings Worldwide and you're right Loveprague, Turkish residents need a US bank account, whereas some other countries don't.
But this will change I think, I remember it being like that in Belgium too a while ago. Now I can use my local bank account as well.

I know Gittigidiyor.com was a website away from e-bay and then e-bay either bought it or they used it for e-bay as it has only recently been added to the countries list on e-bay. Elisa I am so dissapointed I set her an account up and we did everything okay until it came to adding a U.S. bank account this is where we got stuck. What I cannot understand now and Nesrin told me also is that alot of Turkish people do not have U.S. bank accounts and yet why have e-bay in Turkey if they cannot use PAYPAL?

Because that is usually not the only payment option? Of course I agree that Paypal is the most convenient payment method, but in a lot of cases you can also wire money for example..
Edit: you might want to check the PP Help Section and read this. If she has a credit card, she should be able to use PP, even if she doesn't have a US bank account. If I remember correctly that's how I used to do it myself a couple of years ago.

It might be a good idea to email PayPal customer service and ask if an account can be set up without a US Bank account.
I have the impression that the US account is only necessary if you want to withdraw actual paper money from the PP account, but to send and receive money electronically a credit or debit card would be enough... at least in theory. There was actually a big discussion about it regarding Malaysia, where persons started having trouble using their PayPal accounts, but when they contacted customer service they were told that the constant prompting for a US account was due to an error caused by system mainenance. Since then, a lot of them have successfuly sent and received money through PP. The PayPal offering for Turkey seems identical to that of Malaysia, so maybe Turks don't need a US account either, but because PayPal is still expanding and may have some inconsistencies, contacting them might be a good idea.
