Her bin kişiden üçünde tip-1 diyabet hastalığı var
I can't figure out why it's "üçünde" here and not "üçü"...
Someone help me please?

I dont know in English, yet again but..
3 OP de 1000 mensen heeft type 1 suikerziekte.
Though in that case.. the OP is for the 1000..
But you could probably see it this way:
IN 3 persons OUT OF a 1000, they have diabetes type 1. (this is a crappy translation but to show where the de comes from)

Exactly!
Because another example says her yüz kişiden ikisi
"two of every hundred".
Hence my confusion

You know "de" in "üçünde" is the locative suffix.
Bende/Bizde/İkimizde, etc diyabet hastalığı var.
Her bin kişiden üçünde(=in them, their bodies, etc..... var.
(Lit. There is....in three out of every thousand people.)
Three out of every thousand people have...

You know "de" in "üçünde" is the locative suffix.
Bende/Bizde/İkimizde, etc diyabet hastalığı var.
Her bin kişiden üçünde(=in them, their bodies, etc..... var.
(Lit. There is....in three out of every thousand people.)

Definitely you understood. Just omit the plural suffix in "beyinler".
"Her yüz kişiden ellisinde beyin yok."

I can't. Because I even doubt if one out of two people has brain. I think the rate must be higher. (e.g. four out of five people).

I don't think she did an injustice to people. She is right: one out of two persons has no brain. Haven't you ever felt that you have no brain? I sometimes feel I have no brain.
