Well, actually I considered "un" as well, but as I remembered the abstracting function of the definite articles, I thought "le" might fit better there. Because the word message in Turkish message above is in its general/ abstract meaning. Like saying:
Le chat est un animal.
But also I now remember "Un chat est un animal" is the same. So, you are right.
