Friend, you've made your satisfaction clear, how nice that we've all felt the same feelings in the same manner, oh in the meanwhile, before I forget I'll write that I saw that you were much better in this meeting.

You're right, kafan hiç karışık değil, but in that context that's what s/he meant.

Ok, I'm copying from my grammar book, no chance I can explain that myself:

Gerunds:
Words derived from verbs and are used like adverbs are called gerunds. Gerunds are not conjugated and do not express person... Gerunds are divided to five groups according to their meaning.

Gerunds of state:
They show the state of the action that the verb states. Gerunds of state also connect sentences, words and phrases like conjuctions. There are various types of gerunds of state (one of them is -madan/-meden).

examples:
Bu adamla konuşmadan sakın karar vermeyiniz.
Bu sabah güneş doğmadan uyandım.
Yağmur yağıyor, şemsiye almadan evden çıkma.

note: The suffix -madan is USUALLY used together with the word "önce".

You're welcome deli, why the face? Yine mi kafan karıştı?
Anyway by this explanation the translation of "unutmadan" should have been "before forgetting".
