If I were to say:
Floss, arabaya gidiyorsun
Would this be an instruction to Floss to get into the car or would it be a statement that Floss is currently going somewhere in a car?

well Bod, i m still taking my first steps in turkish language, but i ll try to answer this question. if i m wrong, anyone pls correct me...
i think that the instruction to Floss to go to the car, would be "Floss, arabaya git"
what u wrote, which by the way should be "Floss, arabaya gidiyorsun", would be like talking to Floss and mentioning that he is going to the car.
the statement that Floss is going to the car (if told to somebody else than Floss), would be "Floss arabaya gidiyor".

Yes - as an instruction to "go to the car". I can understand that.......
But what about an instruction to "go and get into the car"??? Would I need to use a different verb to express this???

Yes, dear, you'll have to use a different structure. to say "to get into the car" you should use the verb "to binmek" and the dative case for the noun, i.e. "arabaya binmek":
for example,
Sen arabaya biniyorsun.

Thank you.....
So would I be right in thinking that Sen arabaya biniyorsun is a statement much the same as saying "you are getting in the car"?
To give the instruction would be Floss, arabaya bin!
Or have I still got it wrong???

YaY!!!
So to take it a step further......if I wanted to be more polite and say "please" where would I add that into the sentence? Would this be correct???
Floss, lütfen arabaya bin
