Quoting aenigma x: Quoting kai: Well I've traveled too and from Turkey now and so I can tell you this...
When going through security in England you are not allowed any liquids over 100ml and all liquids under must go in a plastic bag. Alcohol allowance in England it is 1 litre but coming back from Turkey it is 2 litres and 600 cigarettes. |
Are you sure????? The allowance for bringing back tobacco and alcohol from NON EU countries is 1 litre alcohol and 200 cigarettes. Where did you hear this from?
UK Customs allowances are:

The limit on entering Turkey is up to Turkish authorities. |
Well it said in the a booklet on the Onur Air airline allowance and it said in Turkley = 2 Litres and 600 cigs

Incidently, this depends on the airport . Travelling from Southampton Airport recently, the rules were more relaxed and there was no need to use plastic bags.

Nope sorry to disappoint, but you cannot ENTER the UK with that amount. You can only bring back the allowances on the link I gave from HM Customs.

Well I'm not disappointed lol don't want or need any lol. Also just realised the mistake I think it's on the way out to Turkey your allowed that much.
The liquid in a blastic bag thing was at Gatwick Airport as my mother told me she had to put her things in when she was coming over to Turkey, but after security she could take them straight out :-S

Phew! Didn't want you getting a big bill at UK customs Kai
Yeah, the plastic bag is just for the security check. Once through you can buy as many liquids as you like in the airport shops.
They are just checking that dodgy people like you dont bring through liquid explosives!!

Also if anyone is coming back from Turkey to Gatwick know that there isn't anyone and customs on your way out! I know someone coming back with more than 8 litres!
|
|
You should also be warned that, whilst there is rarely anyone in customs when you return from your holiday, they DO spot checks occasionally . Last time I came back from the Canary Islands (which people ASSUME has the same allowances as Spain), customs went through EVERY bag and people had a choice to either pay the extra tax (sometimes the cost was even more than what they had paid for the item!) or had them confiscated.
I guess its up to you, if you want to take the risk
It does bother me that you stated something as FACT on a post seeking advice about this, and then realised you had made a huge mistake

Adding some information because I think European rules are almost every the same. In the EU you are allowed to take 1 litre of alcohol like liquor with you but not when you have a stop-over! I bought a bottle of raki in Izmir and at my stopover in Munich I could choose: check it in separately as luggage or they confiscated it. When I had a direct flight to Amsterdam it would be allowed! And this is not only Munich but also in other countries.

Hell! I never thought of that one! Your 1 litre would be OVER the 100ml amount allowed before the second airport's security check!
Will bear that in mind!
