As no one has mentioned it yet, a huge concert was organised in various venues around the world to highlight global warming. Around 70,000 people attend the concert in the UK, held in Wembly Stadium. Other concerts in Tokyo, Johannasburg, Hamburg, Rio, New York oh I forget the rest............
Absolute and utter hipocracy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How many of the 'performers' were jetted around the world to the various locations and how many of the 'performers' own their own private jet, fleets of cars and massive mansions over the globe! And how many of the 'performers' really give a shit!
The awareness raised - turn off your TV's etc from standby, recycle your recycable waste, change a few light bulbs to energy savers, insulate your loft better........bla bla bla bla
The message sent out - it is OK to travel the length and breadth of the world to see some arthritic perfomer, do a couple of 'sets' or to see an over hill 'queen of pop' writhing over a speaker as if her life depended on it. And yes, I did have the mis-fortune of turning the TV on just in time to see Madonna!! Turning the lights off at Wembly (oh sorry, non-essential lights) for about 30 seconds will do the trick.
Save the planet? I dont think so..........

The Arctic Monkeys were invited to play as well, but didn't want to join for the above reasons.

Me too! News says today that only 4.5m viewers switched on in the UK - out of 25 million potential households, maybe the message did get across. Save energy and don't watch!!!
