why do people lie?

To gain profits, to avoid shouldering responsibility, to pretend to be someone else...sometimes coz they don't want to hurt somebody's feeling, sometimes coz that's the way they are...

Lying can become a habit to some, unfortunately. Once you start telling lies, you’ll probably have to “cover-up” your tracks with more lies. So that’s why people keep lying. Yeah, and I agree with Daydreamer on the various reasons for lying…sad but true.

I wish i had an internal lie detector test so I could tell exactly was lying and how often.
I think I would be very suprized.

I wonder..could be said "lies" someone`s words of love, during 2-3 years and after, no words, no explication, no meaning breaking off...
