Bugün tekrar alışveriş yaptım. Sonunda ihtiyacım olan herşey alabildim. Hala valizlerimi hazırlamam lazım, çok işim var! Bu gece evde geçireceğim son gecem. Tek başıma seyahat etmek için kaygılanıyorum, hele hele Türkiye'ye geldiğimde. Leyla saat kaçta beni karşılayacak?

It is a bit like "that" or "that which" or "who is"

e.g. ihtiyacım olan - that which I need.

Eski Başbakan olan Recep Tayyıp Erdoğan tekrar Başbakan olacak

Recep Tayyıp Erdoğan, who was the old Prime Minister, will be Prime Minister again

Geçmiş olan - that which is past

Eski olan - the old

In conversation or colloquial Turkish you might be able to drop it in a sentence, but it is often better or more formal Turkish to inclıde it.

For example

Which shirt do you like?

Hangi gömlek beğeniyorsun?

Yeşil olanı

The green one / the one which is green (here it is olanı - because it is the green one out of a choice of several ones)

To be - olmak - is the only irregular verb in Turkish.

PS Have a great holiday. I am sure you will be fine travelling alone. Turkish people are very friendly, so Turks on your flight will help look after you. Just remember to buy your visa at the airport before joining the passport control line.
