I know my subject is not about Turkey but I'll ask it anyway because I think this might be a good place with so many people from all over the world. I'm thinking (just thinking!) of another vacation during Christmas and New Year. Searching on Dutch travel sites I came across two countries that seem very interesting: Malaysia and Myanmar. Anybody who have been there, live there, know someone there who can give me more information?

Of course I have used Google and found already a lot information myself, but that's not the type of information I now want. All about geography, political situation, climate, economy etc. What I like to hear is information about being there, the atmosphere, the people, the dangers, the dont's (the do's like excursions are widely advertised) and so on.

Yes, I also know that the political situation in Myanmar is one of the worsest in the world and that some people say 'you should not go there'. On the other hand there are people who say that by going a tourist helps more than by staying away (and if I decide this one, I will be travelling with a small organisation that avoids big hotels but chooses for local possibilities). These politics are absolutely one of the things important for me in my final decision.

Anyone who can help me? I will be grateful for every piece of information.

If it was me, I would opt for another location. Neither country sounds appealing to visit. What about Thailand?
