Spanish film festival to host Turkish cinema
Turkey will be featured as guest country at this year's Political Cinema Festival in Barcelona, Spain.


Turkey will be represented with 11 movies at the festival, which will mark its third edition between Sept. 27 and Oct. 2.
Festival de Cinema Politic, created and organized by the French association Sinetik with the support of the Cultural Institute of the City of Barcelona, will screen Turkish films that were shot from 1962 to 2006, including the 1962 production "Yılanların Öcü" (Revenge of the Snakes), directed by Metin Erksan, the 1974 production "Otobüs" (The Bus), by Tunç Okan, and the 1982 movie "Yol" (The Way), by Şerif Gören and Yılmaz Güney, reported the Anatolia news agency.

Other movies in the lineup include Tunç Başaran's "Uçurtmayı Vurmasınlar" (Don't Let Them Shoot the Kite), Yeşim Ustaoğlu's "Güneşe Yolculuk" (Journey to the Sun), Tayfun Pirselimoğlu's "Hiçbiryerde" (In Nowhere Land), Çağan Irmak's "Babam ve Oğlum" (My Father and My Son) and Özer Kızıltan's "Takva" (A Man's Fear of God).

The director of the festival is Kerem Ayan, who is also the vice director of the İstanbul International Film Festival. Organizers of the Festival de Cinema Politic, which will also screen short films and documentaries with themes centering on politics, said the reason Turkey was chosen as this year's guest country was that Turkish productions were new to Spanish moviegoers and thus they wanted Spanish cinema buffs to get more acquainted with Turkish cinema. The festival will also feature an international feature film competition.

MADRİD - İspanya’nın Barcelona kentinde 27 Eylül-2 Ekim arasında yapılacak 3. Siyasi Filmler Festivali’nin bu yılki konuk ülkesinin Türkiye olacağı açıklandı.

Barcelona Belediyesi, Barcelona’daki Fransız Enstitüsü ve FNC firmasının sponsorluğunda organize edilen festivalde, 1962-2006 yılları arasında çekilmiş 11 Türk filminin gösterileceği bildirildi.

Festival boyunca gösterilecek Türk filmleri arasında, Metin Erksan’ın “Yılanların Öcü” (1962), Tunç Okan’ın “Otobüs” (1974), Şerif Gören ve Yılmaz Güney’in “Yol” (1981), Atıf Yılmaz’ın “Asiye Nasıl Kurtulur?”(1986), Tunç Başaran’ın “Uçurtmayı Vurmasınlar” (1989), Yeşim Ustaoğlu’nun “Güneşe Yolculuk” (1999), Tayfun Pirselimoğlu’nun “Hiçbiryerde” (2002), Çağan Irmak’ın “Babam ve Oğlum” (2005) ve Özer Kızıltan’ın “Takva” (2006) filmleri bulunuyor.

Aralarında Uluslararası İstanbul Film Festivali’nin Direktör Yardımcısı Kerem Ayan’ın da olduğu Siyasi Filmler Festivali’nin yönetimi, Türk filmlerinin gösterimlerinin İspanya’da henüz çok yeni olması ve Türk sinemasının bilinmemesi sebebiyle bu yıl Türkiye’nin davet edildiğini söylediler.

Uluslararası yarışma bölümünün de bulunduğu festivalde, siyasi içerikli kısa metrajlı filmler ve dünyadan çeşitli belgeseller de gösterilecek.
