The problems of Turkish aircompany FlyAir caused trouble in the Netherlands. Two travel agents got bankrupted by this. FlyAir has problems with landing rights in some European countries because assumed is that they don't take care enough of safety precautions. At least 1250 people, who already have paid for their vacation to one of the coastal places like Side or Alanya, cannot come to Turkey. About 700 people are now in Turkey and have no transport back home. An organisation that insurances these events (SGR) will take care of their flights back to Holland.

Well, that's just awful. How are these people going to get home? I wonder if something like that happens, what the legal answers would be. Should one always purchase flight insurance?

That organisation (SGR) will take care of them, they won't have to stay. But it causes a lot of stress, and yes I think you always need a travel insurance.
