40 minutes is very tight. It will be easy for you to find the domestic terminal. If there are many of you on the plane going to Antalya, generally they will delay the flight so you can board. If not, there are many flight each day from Ist to Antalya if you miss it. All the signs in the airport are in turkish and english. The task that will take the longest is clearing customs. But they have done a good job establishing "lanes" in customs clearance so people go through quickly and efficiently. It wasn't that long ago that clearing customs was a "free for all".

I've been through Istanbul twice now with no problem. Easy to find most everything.
