Dutch newspaper today:
Turkish prostitutes start political party.
Istanbul - Two former prostitutes started a political party in Turkey: The Ekmek Party (party of bread?). Two women Ayce Tukrukcu en Saliha Ermez were independant candidates for the parliament elections last months but were not chosen, according to Turkish Daily News on Thursday.
Both women are victims of forced prostitution. They want to speak for and represent the interests of (ex) prostitutes. The board of this new party excists of victims of sexual violence. Tukrukcu will be president and Ermez vice-president.
The 'Party of Bread' will be registered next year says Turkish press agency Anatolia. The two women express they want to realize their political aspirations. Ermez got only 95 and Tukrukcu 196 votes during the elections. 'We took over prime minister Erdogans slogan: do not stop, continue.'

Ekmek doesn't only mean simply bread though. I think the meaning is more than that.
I had some friends from Slovenija that were working here a few years ago and they always insisted on going to the "Corn" Bizarre.

Maybe a native speaker can enlighten me/us? What is the real name of this party and what does it mean if you translate?

I would almost translate equivalent to "Party of Life"

I didn't know it. It's called "Ekmek Partisi", the Bread Party or Party of Bread. They tell the reason for it is that they fell into prostitution because of trying to earn bread money, "ekmek parası" it means money for living.
