Arkadaş vs Dost

I have a very good Turkish friend that I'd like to see romantically when she breaks up with her boyfriend. I know first-hand that their relationship is in serious trouble. Right now, I can call her 'arkadaş'. I want to send her the poem 'Dost'

http://www.turkishclass.com/poem_147

but I wonder if that might be too intimate?

Can a man & woman be dostlar without being romantically involved?

Some background: she's been living in the US for several years and her English is very good.

im not sure though... i would imagine thats the case..?

i think 'dost' is more of a very close friend, or a best friend and 'arkadas' is just a friend.

Thanks for the link. I only joined recently and didn't see the older topic.
