Dear classmates, in all countries there's a tradition to give flowers to those we love and/or respect. But in Russia it's common to give flowers in odd numbers, e.g. 1, 3, 5, etc. As far as I know in Turkey it's quite OK to give an even number of flowers , like 2, 4, 6. But in Russia we buy 2, 4 and so on flowers to carry them to the cemetery.
I'd like to ask you, my dear classmates, what's about your countries? What traditions of giving flowers do you have?

I like flowers that why when I read your topic I responded into it.

Giving of flowers is like giving gifts. The number and even the choice of colors suits the one who give them. Mostly for lover - its either 3 (for "I love you" 5 (for i love you very much) or a dozen. The color particularly suit what he/she wanted to send a message into.

For me, flower is the BEST gift. Well, accordingly, women feels "different" when flowers were sent to them more than any other things. I, particularly love to be sent a flower even in mms or in real form (of course).

Just sharing...

In England giving of flowers for special occasions is very popular.

For valentines day (February 14th) - the giving of a single red rose is considered very romantic - and cheaper than buying 12 - which is another tradition to express love!!

Yeah - there is an English belief (now mostly died out) that the number of red roses you give to your lover is the number if months of the forthcoming year that you will be together........hence why you should always give a dozen!!!

It is now acceptable to give 1 or 6 as well but any other number would be considered strange at best
