I would also term this as an 'emerging market' of which Turkey is one. (referred to as an emerging economy when I did economics).
Does that save me from the fridge? Unless there is lots of nice cheese in there then I don't mind so much

What's that?
We are too busy, writing love letters here... |
In the main yes !!! However, my reason for not replying was simply that ...it's a fact that there is huge economic growth in Turkey. What else can I say?

But you did reply

I recently was forced to watch a lot of CNN (being the only English language speaking channel available in my hotel room!) and was amazed at high profile of Turkey in commercial breaks!
The Turkish government is spending a FORTUNE on advertising on CNN. Without fail, every single commercial break featured long and expensive ads for US investment in Turkish companies and Turkish airlines.
With Turkey recalling their ambassador from the US last week, it begs the question....are Turkey cutting off the hand that feeds them?

Somewhere in the forum, I don't remember where or when, there was a post / article about the amount of money Turkey is spending on advertising itself! I suppose CNN is a good place to start as it is available all over the world and especially in foreign hotels when you are fed up and with nothing better to do, and it is the only English speaking channel!! What I like is the lovely Turkish Tourist symbol - they use it everywhere, even on a towel I bought in Oludeniz!
