I am very confused about where and how "eder" is used. I can't find a translation of it in the dictionary (other than as "pricelist" ).
In another thread mltm wrote:
Kediler ve köpekler birbirleriyle kavga ederler.
Kedi ve köpek birbirleriyle (or birbiriyle) kavga eder.
And what about in:
Teşekkür ederim
Can anyone help me to understand the use of this better - thanks!

So how is ederim formed???
"et-der-im" with the 't' dropped?
If so, what is the -der suffix???

if i give u some more examples rather than explaining it maybe u will understand
gelirim
giderim
beklerim
özlerim
isterim
bakarım
atarım
koşurum
üşÃ¼rüm
u can see that most of them follow the vowel type harmony although there are about 12-13 exceptions..
these are all listed in another thread which was started by myself a while ago.. maybe u can find it? that would help u also as it explains things in more depth

Oh!!!
It's one these annoying aorist tense used where the tense isn't really aorist at all........
I'll have to really study that to understand it properly

bod ya.. from seeing ur posts it is obvious that you are taking on too much at once.. you cant feed ur brain that much TR in a small space of time coz there will just be a block and nothing will go in..
i think that u should really study a couple of things until u are sure that they are in ur head.. and then carry on with some more..
i mean, look at the forums now.. they are tattooed with all different things u wanna learn all at once..
i give u credit for ur determination although i tried the same technique and it got me nowhere but confused :S
also, i think that u would benefit from being in a turkish environment with all TR speakers so u would also pick up thngs natrually as well as having to "study study study" ha?

Quoting miss_ceyda: im not sure whereabouts u are although i know that in places like london, there are lots of Turkish people.. are u not near there? cant u get TR tv? that would also be greatly beneficial |
I'm in Manchester (it is in my profile - *pokes*)
The only places I can think of where I could practice spoken Turkish is the local Turkish supermarket and resturant. And I am not good enough for that yet!
No way can I get Turkish TV as I don't have a television! But I do listen to Turkish radio alot of the time.
I have a very different approach to learning to you. One that works for me - well, it always has done! That of learning a little and then trying to push myself asking lots of questions along the way. Much of the answers I forget but remember something of them. The bits that I actually need I learn very quickly by repitition
Türkçe yöntemim ögreneyim!

Thanks ramayan and Miss C - between your explanations I have worked out that "eder" is etmek in the aorist tense......that was all I needed to know
