I'm confused. Bank told us that a decimal point meant thousands

My computer shows these (Control panel -> Regional settings):

Sayı: 123.456.789,00

Para Birimi: 123.456.789,00 YTL

Turkish standards are a bit different.

I guess you say as an example: 1 m 50 cm = 1.50 m
we write: 1,5 m with coma

and thousands are shown by points, as si++ wrote.

1.000= thousand in Turkish standards

but you write 1,000 with coma.

That is an important point especially for Turkish engineering students, because almost all resources are in English and have international standards but Turkish standards are different. For that reason, I remember one of my instructors warned us many times about these usages.
