Laying shoes on a table is considered bad luck.

Good Luck: Knock on Wood - It was believed that good spirits lived in trees, and that by knocking on anything made from wood, we could call upon these spirits for protection against misfortune.

Good Luck: A 4-leaf clover

See a penny, pick it up; all day long you will have good luck

Spilling sugar - you get a visitor
A broken mirror means 7 years of bad luck
Seeing a black cat - bad luck
Spilling salt - bad luck, but you can 'buy it off' by throwing a little over your left shoulder
Opening an umbrella inside - bad luck
When you are in trade (like in a shop): spit on the first coins you receive and your business will be booming that day

Don't walk under a ladder
Don't walk on the gaps in paving stones
Don't cross on the stairs
Upturned horseshoe is supposed to be lucky
Friday 13th is unlucky (some people are so superstious they stay in bed all day)
Don't have a cylamen in the house if you are pregnant (supposed to make the woman miscarry)

That's all the rubbish I can think of for now.............

Some of the older people in my family had some strange ones:

Never speak ill of the dead, lest they come to haunt you.

If you spill salt, you must pick up the grains with your right hand and thru them over your left shoulder or you will have bad luck. (I often wonder what would happen if you did the opposite)

Spitting on someone warded off the devil.

Opening up an umbrella inside your home is bad luck.

When your ears are singing/tingling with one single tone, remember: the right side is bad (people are gossipping about you), the left side is good (people are telling good things about you).
