I dont think they are 'hyping it up' to create fear in people. In Turkey there are alot of rural areas which are at risk to catching bird flu, unfortunately in such rural areas, its very hard to get through to the people, alot of villagers in Eastern Turkey are still sharing their living space with poultery, despite all the 'hyping up' - The more they 'hype it up' the better, that way they might actually get through to the people who think bird flu can be cured by giving the birds 'ıhlamur' to drink. Despite bird flu being in the media for the past few weeks, iam sure theres still thousands of people in Turkey who have no idea what bird flu is or how harmful it can be. By creating so much attention regarding bird flu, they are educating the Turkish people, and protecting them against a virus which has killed 4 in the past month.
Can you imagine if these events had happened in the UK? and what would the media be like if 4 children had died, and hundreds of people had been diagnosed or suspected to have the virus?
