Can someone please explain to me how/who the word aşkım is used for in Turkey? I understand the translation is something like "my love"...but is it used for family, friends, girlfriend/boyfriend? What are some other words that are similar? Thanks

Aşkım is i think, mainly used for boyfriends/girlfriends.
Canım (my dear) is used for friends and family as well i think.
But wait for someone else to explain it better

First off all Please don't call anyone 'aşkım' it became a regular word. Lost it's magic.
And answer your question it is for girl friend/boyfriend.
Smilar words I don't know tell me in English maybe I can find a match in Turkish.

Life is hayat,
hayatim - my life.
And i am not positive about this, but canim goes as for sweetheart, and it is used also in addressing between friends, family.
