I admire Mel Gibson famous actor and now producer and director. He is extremely handsome and charismatic and always looks exceptionally happy.
My main admiration is because he has been married to the same women for many years as they are now in middle age and they have six daughters and now a young son of 8 years. Although he has worked opposite some of the most beautiful women in hollywood and who may have propositioned him he has never betrayed his wife Robyn who was a nurse when they met.
He is a devout Catholic and wanted to become a priest so I wonder if that has anything to do with his fidelity.

I admire most Aziz Nesin, who was a famous Turkish writer. I have read all his books which are translated in Greek. I do not admire him only as writer, but as a very special person as well. He has founded in 1972, a Foundation (Nesin Vakif) in Catalca for poor children. I hope that all the Turkish people will visit the foundation some day

I also admire Attaturk! He was way ahead of his times. His policies on women's rights were awesome for the era. He came from the ranks of the army to lead a huge country towards the modern turkey we know (and love) now. He changed the law from Sharia law to a modern non-secular system and his achievements should be better known around the world than they are. Now i have learned about him I think he should be listed as one of the great world leaders of the 20th century. Unfortunately most people, in England anyway, have never even heard of him - tragic!

Winston Churchill (yes dusk..correct spelling - although i see that I spelt Atatürk wrongly * I am sorry about that everyone, I was sure it had 3 "t's" in it! :-S
Well Churchill, is generally considered to have been a great wartime leader, but as a Prime Minister, I don't believe he was that good.
In England, most of the youth do not really have strong patriotic views about heroes in England. You Turks with your strong sense of national pride would be shocked at how the youth of England are not interested in their history. The other problem is that people in England are beginning to be slightly embarrassed by their colonial past and their reputation for taking over other countries, plundering their natural resources and then leaving the general population in poverty. In fact to tell the truth, I had a bit of a struggle to come up with an English 'hero' or person I admired.
Margaret Thatcher was a bit of a heroine of mine, although its generally not something that English people like to admit!
I'm in complete agreement about JRR Tolkein btw Attila.
