Can somebody tell me the history of the Turkish flag? Is he installed by Atatürk or was he already in from osmanic times? From what time then?? Thanks!

Closest form to the current turkish flag, has been encountered by the time of Selim III The Sultan (Ottoman). On the flag, been used a crescent moon with an octagonal star. In 1842, by the time of Abdulmecid The Sultan, the octagonal one has becomen into pentagonal one. After the abolition of Sultanate, in May 29th 1936 with an article numbered as 2994, current shape and form has becomen a law.
