i don't understand why it's wrong... :-S

please someone explain! I want to say "are you working?" I thought it would be something along the lines are "işum mu?" But I doesnt look right...:-S And I've just been told it should be "sen çalışıyormusun"....why?:S

çalışmak is to work. Iş is not a verb, so you can not use it here.
işim would be "my work" and işum is not correct, according to the vowel harmony. (Someone correct me if i am wrong).
çalışiyor musun? is the correct way of asking "are you working?"

I have also made the same mistake before, as i thought iş was a verb too.. and could be used in different tenses

ahha now I feel less silly thanks again! You might have quite a few of these in teh near future, I'm thinking of really cracking on with learning!
