Turkish bride and groom. Does the bride and groom have hen and stag parties like those in the UK and no doubt other nations?

Since no one really answered the question, here goes. It does depend upon tradition but woman often have what is generally called henna night. (Though my wife didn't much to her family's disappointment.) This is an all female affair where the bride's female friends and relatives sing to her and try to make her cry. They want to make her cry because she should be sad that she is leaving her family. The bride and guests mark the palm of their hands with henna. This is the general info I have and I have no idea what the men do. If you are really interested let me know and I will assign as a homework essay to my students and we can see what we get. (I'm an English teacher in Istanbul.)

thank you for your kind offer. I am going to a wedding in three weeks and wonder whether I will be invited to the "Hen Night" if there was such a thing and what to expect. Equally whether my husband would be invited to a "stag night". If you can find out then that would be great. Send me a PM if you go ahead!

By the way a "flue" is something that lets out the fumes from a gas or coal fire in your house ( bit like a chimney). |
