Question regarding the analysis of the accusative case in specific sentence

The sentence I have a problem with is taken from page 126 in Çelen/Pollards 'Teach Yourself Turkish' and is as follows: 'En çok hangi işi yapmayı seviyorsunuz?'.
I understand the sentence perfectly well (or sort of well, actually!), but its construction is a little obscure: why is it 'işi' and not just 'iş'? To my eyes, it seems that the specificity of the object is taken care of by putting 'yapma' in the accusative...Has it got something to do with 'hangi'?
It would be very helpful getting a reply from someone who knows. I asked John Guise at Manisa Turkish, but in the end he said he was unable to analyze it correctly.

Hangi takes -i and doesn't take -i depending on the situation.
Hangi ev ? ( short: hangisi ? )
Hangi evi ?( short: hangisini ? )
Hangi iş ?
Hangi işi ?
If you know when a word gets -i suffix, then I think you should not have any problem with that sentence.

Short answer
Accusative is necessary in this example and it has got something to do with "hangi" as you said.
Long answer
There is an "iç cümle" (inner clause) or "alt cümle" (sub-clause) IOW in the sentence and it's in the object position.
En çok hangi işi yapmayı seviyorsunuz?
The underlined part is an inner clause and it is an answer to the following question we use to find the object of a sentence as we were taught in the primary school.
En çok neyi seviyorsunuz?
Now let's further analyze that inner clause:
hangi işi yapmayı
This is a noun clause with accusative suffix.
If we turn it into a sentence:
Hangi işi yaparsın? = which job do you do?
Asking about a job known in the context. So accusative is necessary.
But if you replace which with what:
Ne iş yaparsın? = what job do you do?
Asking about a job not known in the context (hence no accusative).
So with "ne" the accusative is not necessary but with "hangi" it is.
En çok hangi işi yapmayı seviyorsunuz?
Which job do you like most to do?
En çok ne iş yapmayı seviyorsunuz?
What job do you like most to do?

Thanks, si++, your answer was *exactly* the thing I was looking for. As to the reply of SunFlowerSeed, I can only say...well, if I *knew* the answer would I be posting the question?
