Quoting teaschip1: I have a friend who is stunning, she gets attention by alot of men. However, she always picks the real bums. No matter how bad they are to her, she constantly is going back to them. I mentioned before lack of attention in my previous post, but I'm starting to believe it's either low self esteem or self destruction from these woman. Even though the red flags are there, they just continue to make bad decisions. Maybe it's a thought of not being worthy, but it seems to be a cycle for alot of women who are treated poorly by men repeatedly. |
There's also that belief in some girls that maybe THEY are they girl that will make this guy want to settle down and be a good boy  I've know a few of those..and I must confess that I've thought it once or twice in my younger days...

this reminds me a quote from Mae West: Don't marry a man to reform him - that's what reform schools are for. 
in psychology this behaviour (repeatedly choosing an unappropriate partner, who is mistreating her, also trying to change a partner's behaviour while being mistreated) is connected to childhood experiences, behaviour patterns learned in family and often these are the outcomes of unhappy relationships between the two parents and between father and daughter.
