Finally! Someone who cares....yes Bydand there IS something bothering me and I need your help. Chancel repairs! Would the risk of them prevent you continuing with a house purchase even though roughly 30% of houses in the UK are potentially affected? What are your views on it just being an insurance scam? Were the government right to give them until 2013 to claim them, or should they be abolished?

Sounds like a nightmare I had with a home I owned and wanted to sell. Seems there was mold on the foundation...OF COURSE THERE WAS MOLD....I LIVE IN A BAYOU!

Well this one is a doozy! Apparently in England, if you live within 6 million miles of a church, they can pounce on you at any time (like a drunken dudu) and ask for money for church repairs!!!!! It was considered a dead, old law until recently when a householder was asked for £7000, took it to court, lost the case, and ended up having to pay £150,000 to the church.
Another good reason for being agnostic.....
