Oh yes!

Turk Telekom, the telephone company, has been on strike for over 4 weeks! We are trying to move our depot for the bookstore. All is ready except for the fact that we can't get the telephones transferred due to the strike. So no telephone and no internet at our new building.

In Turkey trade unions are called "sendikalar", from the French word.

Here are some examples:

Türkiye Basın İşÃ§ileri Sendikası (short name: Basın-İş for those who work in the printing industry

Türkiye Tarım İşÃ§ileri Sendikası (Tarım-İş for agricultural workers

Sağlık ve Sosyal Hizmet Çalışanları Sendikası (Sağlık-Sen) for those in the health service

Öğretmenler Eğitim Öğretim ve Bilim Çalışanları Sendikası (Öğretmen-Sen) for teachers

Türkiye Ulaştırma Hizmet Kolu Kamu Görevlileri Sendikası (Türk Ulaşım-Sen) for transport workers

etc

I think 'the trade unions in Turkey' as a subject should NOT go very lightly as it is going in this thread.
I think it will be a good idea to add some links:
A wiki link about the the trade unions
And a little table :

Grev sayisi: number of strikes
Ozel: private (sector)
Kamu: Government(sector)
Greve katilan isci sayisi: number of labours in strike
