Quinoa in Turkey

Quinoa is an excellent rice substitute that is high in protien and good for people with blood sugar problems. Does anyone know if it's available in Turkey. If so,is quinoa the usual name for it?

I eat a lot of quinoa - its really good for veggies Would be interested also to know if it is available in Turkey.

Well so far it's only you and me kiddo....want to trade how to prepare it tips? Have you had the red type? If you did, was there much of a taste difference?
Actually, I grow purple lambs quarter too. I haven't been harvesting the grain part though. My cats like the green parts of it and it's nice in salad.
In the link below they call it purple goose foot, but I know it as lambs quarter...it's a variety of amarath.

Ouh - I didn't know there were different types! I generally just eat mine warm for breakfast - like a kind of porridge

Hmm....I've never eaten it as porridge. I use it instead of rice and in anyplace I would have used rice. I'm stuffing zucchinni with it tonight.
Last night I sauted brussle sprouts, turnips and black eyed beans with garam masala and extra tumeric and chili power and lots of fresh garlic.
After that was done, it was placed in the center of a mound of quinoa.

Hmmm well I usually use cracked wheat, millet or bulgar wheat for salads and cous cous for hot dishes - but I will certainly try quinoa like this too

Me too, in the past, but as I've been researching GI GL index
quinoa came up as one of the best bargains in that area.

Well I know about its properties but after 2 years drinking wheatgrass and eating seaweed and being rather too concerned about healthy food, I decided that variety is the spice of life where healthy eating is concerned

But of course dear AEnigma III There are many varieties of seaweed, what type did you eat? Ever try hiziki? Have you stuffed kumbu? Have you mixed spirulina in soups?

But of course dear AEnigma III There are many varieties of seaweed, what type did you eat? Ever try hiziki? Have you stuffed kumbu? Have you mixed spirulina in soups? |
