I just read an article telling about the relation between Smurfs and Communism i found it interesting and wanted to share with you ( i guess you all know about Smurfs )
S.M.U.R.F. (Soviet Men Under Red Father)
Were the smurfs communists and was the TVshow created to spread communism to the kids of America? Examples:
-Papa Smurf has a wide beard much like Karl Marx, he also dresses in red, the stereotypical color of Communism, He also has ultimate authority.
-They all wear the same thing, with the exception of Papa Smurf, with few accessories. During early period of the Soviet Union and The People's Republic of China they often wore the same thing like a Mao suit in China.
-The Smurfs live in an egalitarian utopia. Each smurf has a particular skill and each performs tasks for the benefit of the community. There is no system of monetary exchange or even barter in the Smurf village. Anything made such as food is equally distributed to each smurf. This is to Marx belief that do your best at your job, and you take what you need. If you can produce 6 loafs of bread a day but your single and only need 1 you only take one. If the lazy bastard next to you sucks at life and can only make 2 loafs of bread a day but has 6 kids he's allowed to take 6 or more loafs of bread.
-Each member of the community is a Smurf, and each has Smurf as a suffix to their own name; this can be seen as analogous to the use of 'comrade.' The Smurfs have a tendency to use the word 'smurf' as a prefix or suffix to many sentences. This could be seen as an identity to create a strong group identity or a way to eliminate influences from other cultures. This is similar to what was practiced under Soviet Russia.
-A true Marxist is an atheist. There is no mention of God in Smurf comics, and there is no Priest Smurf.

Hahaha what a great theory! However, the same could be said of many children's programmes. I don't think the telly-tubbies had a "priest" either and they lived a similar life to the smurfs

I just want to know why Smurfette was never made to cover up! Living with all those males and not one of them ever had a sexual thought about her? I have my own theories, but they have nothing to do with communism.

Did you ever notice on Scooby Doo, their van the "Mystery Machine". Every time they got out of it a cloud of smoke seeped out. And what about all those Scooby Snacks..I just wonder..
