'Broken Angel' getting ready to hit the theaters

The movie that many Turkish-Americans have been waiting for over a year now is in its last stages of editing before it hits the theaters in mid March 2008.
Following the four-week shooting in early June in Los Angeles, Broken Angel is set to win the hearts of every Turkish-American and anyone who appreciates an artistic and well-told story.
An adaptation of Chicago resident Tulay Pirlant's novel 'Windy City' (Ruzgarli Sehir), the film tells the real life story of Ebru, a Turkish girl who came to America in the 80s and fell prey to the image of fame and fortune.
Adapted by Leslie Bates and directed by Aclan Buyukturkoglu, the quality of the acting and directing in Broken Angel has exceeded expectations so much so that it is currently being submitted to Sundance for its US premiere.
Starring Nehir Erdogan, Aysenil Arda, Nilufer Acikalin and Hollywood heartthrob Patrick Muldoon, Broken Angel benefits from American cinematography techniques and carries the European artistic sensibility, all the while passionately moving and bonding with its audience in a typical Turkish style.
This cultural fusion however should come as a no surprise as Turkish-American director Aclan Buyukturkoglu brings in many years of experience from his background in acting and directing at the state theater in Turkey as well as his masters and filming experience in the US.
With its gripping storyline and high caliber filmmaking, Broken Angel promises quite an international appeal, daring us to dream of potential awards, now granted to a Turkish story for a change. Inshallah!
