Quoting natiypuspi: Hello! I would like you to explain which turkish verbal tenses do you use for the english "would". Thanks. |
AN EXAMPLE:
YOU WOULD GO BETTER
Gitsen daha iyi olur.
explanation.
git > verb :go , ...sen :aux verb- would
iyi > good >>> daha iyi: better.
olur >verb form ol+mak :to be, to become ; inthis sentence there is no used verb for better in English, but in Turkish you must use form of 'to be or to become' OL+MAK

Good question! but I think "gidiyordum" is only translated as " I was going ".

Yes but as I said, it is only for fictious type if clause. If you are talking about past habitance,
verb + aorist + past [-di]
is also used;
Eskiden Gülhane parkına giderdik.
verb: gitmek (to go)
verb with aorist suffix:
gider
verb+aorist+past:
giderdi
verb+aorist+past+personal pronoun suffix:
giderdik
This is not "would" I guess. This is "used to"
"We used to go to Gülhane park in past."
