I do have to say Roswitha they make beautiful rugs. I just bought one a few weeks ago and I should have known..Made in Turkey.

Using Old Masters To Shed Light On Turkish Rugs
The trade in Turkish rugs flourished in Europe for 300 years because of the interest of artists and 'ristocrats. When a revival began in the late 19th century and weavers throughout Turkey began producing vast quantities again, not only were the new rugs collected but old ones were too. It was then that the hundreds of Old Master paintings depicting these exotic rugs became important to scholars.
