I too want to join my life to yours.
I too want to spend more time with you and get t know you better, but sadly it won't work. I will have to put a lot of pressure on my family, I will have to convince them again that I will be happy with you and I need time for this. Of course I want you to come to Turkey.
Because I miss you. Everything is very busy here for my familyi as you know, my big sister has just got married, and all of the rushing around for this has only just finished .... I am finding it hard to tell my family again that I want you to marry me ... you know I told them before and it didn't work out, I guess wither you didn2t completely trust me or you had doubts about getting married.... you didn't realise how determined I was to marry you I guess when you saw your friend married you trusted Turks more. I was prepared to kive with you anywhere, Jay, in Turkey or America or somewhere else, my aim was to be with you, I guess I couldn't explain this to you well enough. Give me some time. Of course I want you to come on Valentine's Day... I miss you a lot

Please be careful here. My brother fell in love with a girl whose family did not approve of her marrying outside of her community. For 18 months my brother went backwards and forwards to Turkey. One minute she promised to marry him, and the next she said she couldn't do it to them. My brother believed that she would marry him because she said things like she couldnt live without him, he was her everything, blah blah blah. My husband and I even went to see her father. In the end, she told him that she was going to marry her brother's colleague and that he should move on. My brother was (and still is) heartbroken and 2 years on he still hasn't forgotten her. I do wish you teh best of luck anyway.

It always amazes me the hold turkish familes have on their children...

Not that it is a bad thing (sometimes)

I think it is a the Eastern culture in general. Our lives are not our own. When we get married, the marraige is of 2 families - not just 2 people.

a few people practice it here in my country too. two people don't just get married, the families too. however, this is given more emphasis when a foreign guy or girl (most of the time guys...) marry people from the philippines. If the guy is courting the girl, he should also court the whole family. which means, sending them gifts, money. etc. and it gets worse when they get married. it's like the guy is obligated to help out the family AND relatives of the girl. the girl doesn't have to oblige him, but the family does.
