Today, the Bulgarian Parliament rejected 4 projects presented by the opposition for recognizing the armenian genocide. The projects are refering to the armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire, between 1915-1922.

The same issue arose in 2006 and was blocked. Do you know why? Bulgarian parliament was blocked by a Turkish party which serves on their coalition government. The parliamentarians, however, said that “passage of the Armenian Genocide resolution will lead to tensions in the Bulgaria-Turkey relations and cause a split in the coalition government formed by three parties, including the party of Turkish minority.”
