I tried to warn them, AEnigma....but they didn't listen!! hehehe...he is good fodder for humor, though. (I guess everyone has to have at least one good attribute.)
To be honest, I don't feel very hated when I go abroad.

They keep mentioning the BBC, but had no "proof" in the video and instead seemed to concentrate on the German press

Argh..... unfortunately, recently they have had a lot of material to help. I noticed very anti-American sentiment when I was in Frankfurt (I was stranded there on 9/11...then that is another long story).
What people don't consider is that Americans are the world in as much as it is comprised of people from all races, all nationalities, all religions. What Americans are is what everyone becomes, given the opportunity.
I think what makes Americans unique is the fact that there is very little family here. You may have a nuclear family, but the extended family and community is hardly existent. Somehow knowing people who have had familial relations with your greatgreatgandparents changes things.
Community hardly exists here. People have lost the idea of purchasing a home to make a home in. It's rather, an investment opportunity. They may live there for a few years, then sell and move on. The professional situation causes people to uproot and relocate too often...IMHO.
It was not like this in the previous generations. This trend started after WWII and has accelerated since then.
I've seen many immigrants and refugees here. It's interesting to watch them change into regular "Americans". It happens fast.
Still, I love the multi-ethnic and cultural society here. Usually after a few generations, things change. It seems most people I meet have only been here three generations.

I think I agree with you............. Wait, I need to check my temperature! (It doesn't mean that that's the whole story though.)

Actually, I think that there is a lot of anti-americanism in Europe. I am not surprised that there is though. When you see a democratic country, one that should be a model for others of human rights and integrity, attack a poor, defenseless country to exploit its resources, I'd hate such a country as well.
However, I don't like the European anti-americanism at all, not only because blaming the US for everything is wrong, because the american people are also being lied to and manipulated, because the american people hate the war as well and because the Europeans are hypocrits as well.
