Marion-please would you explain the 'if'parts of the translation ?

The Turkish literally doesn't have an if in it.

Literally it says:
You choose one, the other gets upset
You choose the other...

This sounded a bit short and sharp in English, so to make it flow better, I put in the ifs.

There is a famous quote about translation being like a women.
If it is faithful it is ugly, if beautiful it is unfaithful.
