its a big disgrace fo them. as i study in a turk school, ofcourse my teachers are turks. they dont want to see a boy act a little feminine. so all gays in our school are acting a little weird just to not get caught by our teachers. they hate gays soooo much.

like so many things, Istanbul is different than the rest of Turkey. Thousands of gays live in Istanbul (openly) and live normal lives. I don't see them as having it much different than other big cities in the world.

Keith, I asked this question before..however, no one answered it maybe you can. I take it since it's openly in Istanbul, the Turkish military doesn't have a problem with gays since males are required to serve.
Also, have there been any demands for gay marriages to the government?

Its like the US policy, "don't ask, don't tell".
There are gays in the turkish military and I am sure just like in US, some people hate it. For their safety they should keep it quiet.
I personally know of two turkish gay marraiges. I doubt it is widespread.
The main thing is they can work and not feel threatened. In smaller areas I doubt it is this way.

and every time you turn on turkish daytime television, Bulent Ersoy is on. So there is "a level" of acceptance.

So if a son is gay, is that a shame for a very traditional family? Would the family talk to him? Would a fake marriage work?

An inspiring question! Fake marriages ALWAYS WORK! We only have to look at the English Aristocracy to determine their success. Marry for money (or convenience) then go off and bonk whoever you like
Ahhhh perfectly romantic and practical
