Merhaba!

Could someone please tell me what the suffixes -mez and -maz mean?

Also, is there anywhere on this site, or on another, where there is a good list of most, if not all, Turkish suffixes and their English meanings?

Teşekkür ederim!

-mez is the suffix for the negative present/aorist verb tense, -maz is just the form it takes if the last vowel of the verb root is a ı o u. As example

beğenmek (to like)

ben beğenmem= I don't like
sen beğenmezsin= you don't like
o beğenmez= he/she/it doesn't like
biz beğenmeyiz= we don't like
siz beğenmezsiniz= you (pl) don't like
onlar beğenmezler= they don't like

Notice the little change -mez undergoes after ben or biz.

Also used when verbs are made into negative adjectives

e.g. İçilmez: Not for drinking (literally: It is not drunk)

One more point:
You can see "-ır ...... ırMAZ",too and it can be confused with negative suffixes -maz/mez. You should be careful.
For example:
"Eve gelir gelmez seni aradım."
As soon as I came home, I called you.

Would the word "sevmez" be an example of this? I still cannot really make out what this word means. It has to do with love, yes?
For example in Mustafa Sandals song "Gönülü gün edeni", the chorus starts out like this:
"Gönülü gün edeni sevmez sevda..."
I haven't been able to translate that at all. I can only understand gün/day? and sevda/love,passion.

Sevmez is the negative of love

i.e. he/she/it does not love

Marion kuru fasulye sevmez: Marion doesn't like beans

O beni sevmez: he doesn't love me

Eğlenmeye sevmez misiniz? Don't you like having fun

Thanks you very much.

So then what exactly does "Gönülü gün edeni sevmez sevda" mean? If you don't mind translating...
